Accessibility

CancerPath's commitment to making our platform accessible to everyone, regardless of ability or device.

Last updated: 27 June 2026

Our commitment

CancerPath is committed to making our platform accessible to as many people as possible. We recognise that cancer affects people of all ages, backgrounds and abilities, and we believe that everyone should be able to access cancer awareness information, screening support and community stories without barriers.

Plain English

We write all content in plain English, avoiding medical jargon wherever possible. Where clinical terms are necessary, we provide clear explanations. Our goal is to ensure that health information is understandable to a wide audience, including those who may not have a medical background.

Inclusive language

We use inclusive, respectful language that reflects the diversity of the communities we serve. We avoid assumptions about gender, ethnicity or background, and we strive to ensure that our content is culturally sensitive and relevant to all users.

Mobile accessibility

CancerPath is designed mobile-first, recognising that many people — particularly in under-served communities — access the internet primarily through smartphones. Our interface is optimised for touch navigation, with large, easy-to-tap buttons and a layout that works across a range of screen sizes.

Readable typography

We use the Inter typeface throughout the platform for its clarity and legibility across screen sizes. We maintain strong colour contrast between text and background, and we use sufficient font sizes to support comfortable reading for all users, including those with visual impairments.

WCAG 2.2 AA improvements

We are working towards conformance with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at the AA level. This is an ongoing process, and we are continuously identifying and implementing improvements to better meet these standards. Some areas of the platform may not yet fully meet WCAG 2.2 AA — we are actively working to address these.

User-centred design

Our design process is user-centred. We co-design with communities, seek feedback from users and iterate based on real-world usage. This helps us identify barriers and improve the experience for everyone.

Accessibility feedback

We welcome your feedback on accessibility. If you encounter any barriers or have suggestions for improvement, please contact us at accessibility@cancerpath.co.uk or via our Contact page.

We use cookies to improve CancerPath
