CancerPath is partially compliant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) version 2.1 Level AA standard, due to the known issues listed below. We are actively working to achieve full compliance.

Accessibility compliance overview

Colour contrast

All text meets WCAG 2.1 AA contrast ratios (4.5:1 for normal text, 3:1 for large text).

Keyboard navigation

All interactive elements are accessible via keyboard. Focus indicators are visible.

Screen reader support

Semantic HTML is used throughout. ARIA labels are applied to complex interactive components.

Heading structure

Each page has a single H1. Headings progress logically without skipping levels.

Image alt text

All meaningful images have descriptive alt text. Decorative images use empty alt attributes.

Link purpose

Link text is descriptive and meaningful out of context.

Responsive design

The website is fully responsive and usable on mobile, tablet and desktop devices.

External links

External links open in a new tab and are labelled appropriately.

Form labels

All form inputs have associated labels. Required fields are clearly indicated.

Skip navigation

A skip-to-main-content link is not currently implemented. This is on our improvement roadmap.

Scope of this statement

This accessibility statement applies to the CancerPath website at cancerpath.co.uk. It does not apply to the CancerPath platform at cancer-path.base44.app, which has its own accessibility considerations.

Our accessibility standard

We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA standard. This is the standard required by the Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) Accessibility Regulations 2018 for public sector bodies, and the standard we voluntarily adopt as a digital health platform working with NHS organisations.

Known accessibility issues

We are aware of the following accessibility limitations: Skip navigation link: A "skip to main content" link is not currently present. We plan to add this in a future update. In the meantime, keyboard users can navigate to the main content area using the Tab key. We are actively working to address these issues and will update this statement when improvements are made.

CancerPath is committed to making its website accessible in accordance with the Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) (No. 2) Accessibility Regulations 2018. This website is built using React with server-side rendering, semantic HTML5, and Tailwind CSS. It has been developed with accessibility as a core design principle.
